BBC Consultation

Thank you for your e-mail.

I have written to John Whittingdale to ask him when he plans to publish the results of the consultation.

I will let you know what responses I receive.

OLIVER LETWIN

A message from Rt Hon John Whittingdale MP, Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport.

Thank you for your e-mail.

We received over 190,000 responses to the consultation on the review of the BBC’s Charter, the second-largest in history. Many of those were the result of the same campaign which is now organising this second write-in.

I can assure you that there is no question of there being a cover-up. I remain committed to the widest possible consultation and am pleased that so many people have taken the opportunity to let us know their views. I am also determined that each submission will be properly taken into account. However, this is inevitably a very time-consuming process and we have had to employ extra staff.

We will be publishing a summary of the consultation responses as well as a White Paper setting out  our conclusions in due course.
