Everything from slithering snakes to puffy pooches are part of the new Kingston Maurward Animal Science Centre that officially opened yesterday.

The state-of-the-art facility helps gives students more of hands-on experience to give them practical advice working with a range of animals.

It's been nine months in the making and it's the end result of a £2.3 million project.

West Dorset MP Oliver Letwin unveiled the new facilities and was given a tour of what students at the college will be enjoying.

He told Wessex FM: "In West Dorset of course we've got a very large amount of land and very large amount of farmers and a huge need for people to be trained in looking after animals. So this plays a major part."
