MP praises 'homely' recovery house

A RECOVERY house in Weymouth has been praised by West Dorset MP Oliver Letwin.

The West Dorset Recovery House in Weymouth is run by the national charity Rethink Mental Illness in partnership with NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

The service, commissioned by NHS Dorset CCG, opened in April this year and offers short-term support for people with mental health problems who are having an acute episode of illness.

Oliver Letwin  said: "I was impressed by the homely and uninstitutional feel of the recovery house.

"It was also impressive to see at firsthand how passionate the urgent care team are about their incredibly difficult and incredibly important mission."

At the recovery house guests may stay for up to 14 days and get support from the highly trained and experienced staff.

While they are staying at the house staff focus on the guest's strengths and offer emotional and practical support.
