A BEAUTY salon in Sherborne was officially reopened on Saturday as the business also marked 35 years of operating in the town.

Margaret Balfour Beauty Salon, in Swan Yard just off Cheap Street, was fully refurbished ahead of the relaunch to celebrate its birthday.

The salon, which now includes seven treatment rooms and a salon shop selling leading designer beauty brands, moved to Swan Yard 16 years ago.

Prior to that, Mrs Balfour's business was located in Trendle Street, now Chapterhouse Books, before moving to rooms above The Three Wishes.

It could then be found on the first floor above Food for Thought, her husband Mike's business, in Cheap Street, which is now Fat Face.

The refurbished salon has created employment for 11 people and Mrs Balfour says she continues to plan for future growth in the town.

She said it was with this in mind that she undertook the complete refurbishment of the premises. She said: "I feel very blessed to have lived and worked in Sherborne for so many years."

Customers of Margaret Balfour Beauty joined the salon owner and West Dorset MP Oliver Letwin as he re-opened the salon following refurbishment to celebrate 35 years of trading in Sherborne.
